ABOUT US

I have learned that life often presents situations beyond our control, and embracing the "uncomfy" is essential for personal growth. My experience has shown me that discomfort and uncertainty are not things to be avoided but embraced. These periods of discomfort are what precede growth. By accepting and confronting our vulnerabilities, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and stronger connections with others.

The Uncomfy Project uses clothing as a tool for advocacy. The designs carry messages of resilience and unity, inviting everyone to join us on this journey as we celebrate authenticity and empower each other through every stitch and seam.

Embrace the uncomfy

The Uncomfy Project is a queer-owned streetwear brand from New Zealand. I'm Elle, a 23-year-old based in Auckland. I'm sharing my story to encourage conversations about vulnerability, shared struggles, and overcoming adversity.

The inspiration for The Uncomfy Project comes from my own experience with a debilitating back injury that I've endured for the last three years. This injury forced me into a state of uncertainty and discomfort, preventing me from working and living the typical life of a twenty-something. After having a difficult time with health issues throughout high school and now into my 20's, I found myself constantly feeling inadequate and behind in life.

Through my own vulnerable moments, I noticed that many around me experienced similar feelings. Realising that I wasn't alone in this, I wanted to share my story to create a community for people facing similar struggles, and a platform for others to share their stories.
